  1. Data processing and processing purposes

The SLE website collects a series of general data and information each time the website is accessed by a data subject or an automated system. This general data and information is stored in the server log files. The (1) browser types and versions used, (2) the operating system used by the accessing system, (3) the website from which an accessing system accesses our website (so-called referrer), (4) the sub-websites which are accessed via an accessing system on our website are recorded, (5) the date and time of access to the website, (6) the Internet Protocol address (IP address) reduced by the last digit for anonymization and (7) other similar data and information used for security purposes in the event of attacks on our information technology systems.

When using these general data and information, the SLE does not draw any conclusions about the data subject. Rather, this information is needed to (1) deliver the content of our website correctly, (2) optimize the content of our website, (3) ensure the long-term viability of our IT systems and the technology of our website, and (4) provide law enforcement authorities with the information necessary for criminal prosecution in the event of a cyber-attack. Therefore, the SLE analyzes anonymously collected data and information statistically, with the aim of increasing the data protection and data security of our enterprise, and to ensure an optimal level of protection for the personal data we process. The anonymous data of the server log files are stored separately from all personal data provided by a data subject.

If a data subject contacts the controller by email or via a contact form, the personal data transmitted by the data subject is automatically stored. Such personal data transmitted on a voluntary basis by a data subject is stored for the purposes of processing or contacting the data subject. This personal data will not be passed on to third parties.

Within the application systems for postgraduate studies and the SLE TRAINING courses, the processing of personal data regarding access (admission) and enrollment is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Student Data Ordinance. The processing of personal data of other persons is carried out for the purpose of conducting studies and teaching.

  1. Deletion and blocking of personal data

Personal data collected by us will only be processed and stored for as long as is necessary to achieve the purpose of storage or as required by law or regulation.

  1. Rights of the data subject (revocation, information, correction, deletion)

Any person affected by the processing of personal data has the right, in accordance with the statutory provisions, to request free information or confirmation from the controller about the personal data stored about them. Furthermore, there is a right to immediate correction of incorrect personal data concerning you or deletion, or to restriction of processing or a right to object to processing.

Consent to the processing of personal data under data protection law can be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

You have the right to receive the personal data provided by the data subject in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to transmit those data to another controller.

In addition, without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, a complaint may be lodged with a Member State supervisory authority if there are doubts as to the lawfulness of the processing of the personal data concerning you.

  1. Cookies

The SLE website uses cookies. Cookies are text files that are stored on a computer system via a web browser.

Numerous websites and servers use cookies. Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier of the cookie. It consists of a string of characters through which websites and servers can be assigned to the specific web browser in which the cookie was stored. This enables the websites and servers visited to distinguish the individual browser of the data subject from other web browsers that contain other cookies. A specific web browser can be recognized and identified via the unique cookie ID.

Through the use of cookies, the LE can provide you with more user-friendly services that would not be possible without the cookie setting. For example, you must not set your preferred language every time you visit our website.

Cookies from two exhibitors are currently being used:

1.) sle-berlin.de
So-called session cookies are set, which are necessary for technical operation. These cookies are essential and cannot be blocked. This also includes a cookie to store your cookie preference.

2.) linkedin. com
These are statistics cookies that we use to measure the interests of users on our website.

You can prevent the setting of technically unnecessary cookies by our website in the 'Cookie policy' pop-up by clicking on the 'Decline' button. Furthermore, you can prevent the storage of cookies at any time by means of a corresponding setting in the web browser used and thus permanently object to the setting of cookies. Furthermore, cookies that have already been set can be deleted at any time via the 'Cookie policy' popup, a web browser or other software programs. This is possible in all common web browsers.

  1. Data protection provisions about the application and use of social media

Links to various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. have been integrated into the SLE website. However, this does not involve the integration of data such as the "Like" button, but only links to the respective external presentation of our institution on the corresponding platform. No data relevant to data protection is stored.

  1. Use of Google Maps

This website uses Google Maps API to display geographical information visually. When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes and uses data about the use of the map functions by visitors. You can find more information about data processing by Google in the Google privacy policy. You can also change your personal data protection settings there in the data protection center.

Detailed instructions on managing your own data in connection with Google products can be found here.

  1. Embedded YouTube videos

We embed YouTube videos on the SLE website. The operator of the corresponding plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page with the YouTube plugin, a connection to YouTube servers is established. YouTube is informed which pages you visit. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your surfing behavior to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

When a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behavior.

If you have deactivated the storage of cookies for the Google Ad program, you will not have to expect any such cookies when watching YouTube videos. However, YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.

Further information on data protection at "Youtube" can be found in the provider's privacy policy at: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/

  1. Legal basis of the processing

Art. 6 para. I lit. a GDPR serves our organization as the legal basis for processing operations for which we obtain consent for a specific processing purpose. If the processing of personal data is necessary, as is the case, for example, with processing operations that are necessary for sending university publications, the processing is based on Art. 6 I lit. b GDPR. If our organization is subject to a legal obligation which requires the processing of personal data, the processing is based on Art. 6 I lit. c GDPR. In rare cases, the processing of personal data may be necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject or another natural person.
