Joint International Research Projects (JIRPs)

Our Joint International Research Projects (JIRP) are not only an integral part of the SLE STUDIUM, but also a living example of our "Co-Creation of Knowledge" approach. In these projects, we work together in trans- and interdisciplinary teams, actively involving local population groups and organizations in the partner countries.

We understand that the challenges of rural development and transformative processes are global concerns. Our projects therefore focus mainly on countries in the Global South, but we are increasingly expanding our radius of action to include countries in the Global North.

In our JIRPs, we use the knowledge, methods and tools that our participants acquire as part of our SLE STUDIUM and deepen them using practical examples. This not only ensures practical training, but also promotes the application of this knowledge in real-life situations.

Every year, we conduct four JIRPs in which our participants work together with young professionals from the partner countries and are accompanied and supported by experienced team leaders.

The topics of our JIRPs are always highly topical and meet the needs of the professional world. The results of these projects are published in a separate series of publications and are available to download free of charge. Since our foundation in 1972, we have successfully completed more than 150 projects in over 60 countries, and our commitment to innovative and sustainable research and development continues to grow.
